Big news out of no where. Thanks to the fine John Squires at Bloody Disgusting for being the first to fill us in on this lucky story. It looks like they are throwing out that crappy reboot SYFY produced a few years back and they are going to continue on with the original storyline from the classic 1993 film, Leprechaun. The film is titled, Leprechaun Returns. Warwick Davis will not be reprising the role of the little green evil psycho but the new performer, Linden Porco, looks to cover the duties nicely. According to Bloody Disgusting:
“The film picks up 25 years after the events of the 1993 original, which found a maniacal Leprechaun doing whatever it takes (including committing gruesome murder) to track down his stolen pot of gold. Leprechaun Returns finds the leprechaun revived in the modern day when a group of sorority girls unwittingly awaken him while tearing down a cabin to build a new sorority house.”
Also, one of the original characters from the first film, Ozzie, will be returning and played by the original actor, Mark Holton. The sequel is written by Ash Vs Evil Dead scribe, Suzanne Keily. I have been a tad critical of the writing on that series so we will have to wait and see. Leprechaun Returns will premier on SYFY exclusively in March of 2019. Take a look at the teaser below and let me know what you think!
